Emily

For almost all of my mother's pregnancy I was supposed to be named Abigail if I was a girl and Adam for a boy. On the way to hospital my mother heard Laura Nyro's song Emily on the radio and fell in love with the (then) unfamiliar name, and the song. When the doctor heard the name Emily, he said he hadn't heard that name used since he named his daughter that 25 years ago. Within 20 years, it was the #1 name in the country.
